A BIG NIGHT IN SARANAC LAKE. THEIR COMPLETED WINTER CARNIVAL ICE PALACE WAS LIT TONIGHT FOR THE CARNIVAL’S OPENING CEREMONIES. TAKE A LOOK. FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS…MANY VOLUNTEERS HAVE BEEN PUTTING THE PALACE TOGETHER. TONIGHT…THERE WAS AN OPENING NIGHT FIREWORKS DISPLAY. AS PART OF THIS YEAR’S SARANAC LAKE WINTER CARNIVAL THEME “MUSIC LEGENDS”…THE ICONIC ICE CASTLE AT THE LAKE FLOWER BOAT LAUNCH HAS ICE SHAPED GUITARS AND OTHER INSTRUMENTS.

Saturday was opening night for Saranac Lake’s annual Winter Carnival. For the last couple of weeks, volunteers have been working to get the carnival and the ice palace set up on Lake Flower. On Saturday, there was an opening night fireworks display.As part of this year’s Winter Carnival theme, “Music Legends,” the iconic ice castle at the boat launch has ice-shaped guitars and other instruments.One of the oldest winter carnivals in the United States, the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival has been a tradition since 1897.The Winter Carnival runs through Sunday, Feb 9.A list of events can be found on the carnival’s website.

Saturday was opening night for Saranac Lake’s annual Winter Carnival.

For the last couple of weeks, volunteers have been working to get the carnival and the ice palace set up on Lake Flower. On Saturday, there was an opening night fireworks display.
