[Trending News] Residents evacuated from Carolina Forest wildfire allowed to return home

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Residents in parts of Carolina Forest are allowed to head back home after a massive weekend wildfire.

At around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Horry County Fire Rescue provided an update stating that all residents who were evacuated from several neighborhoods were allowed to return home.

“Residents will encounter law enforcement checkpoints as they return,” HCFR said in a Facebook post. “Please stay weather aware and watch for possible rekindling of hot spots in the area. If emergency assistance is required, please dial 9-1-1.

The evacuation orders, which are no longer in effect, impacted the following areas:

  • Blackberry Lane from the intersections of Spring Lake Drive, including Pennyroyal Court, Alyssum Court and Bluebonnet Court in the Spring Lake community.
  • Harvest Drive from Moonbeam Court to Tidelands Court in the Waterford Plantation community.
  • Covington Drive from Summerhill Drive to the community center in the Covington Lakes neighborhood.
  • Arrow Wood Court, Indianola Court and Tuckahoe Road in the Walkers Woods neighborhood. Residents of Tuckahoe Road were previously allowed to return home, but HCFR added the street back to the evacuation list overnight.
  • Areas of the Indigo Bay, Summerlyn and Farm neighborhoods. HCFR stated overnight that the evacuations for these neighborhoods should “remain in place until at least daybreak.”
  • Avalon neighborhood
  • HCFR stated that Wyandot Court residents could return home Saturday night
