[Trending News] Portugal will be invited to honor the International Prague Book Fair

Portugal will be the guest of honor of the 30th edition of the Prague International Book Fair, in the Czech Republic, which runs in May, with candidacies to participate in the Central and Eastern European Book Market.




In a social media publication on Tuesday, the Book, Archives and Library Directorate-General stressed that the Central and Eastern European Book Market, which runs on May 15 and 16, “serves as a platform for the meeting of professionals working in the book industry in Central and Eastern European countries. ”





The Book World Fair Fair takes place from May 15th to 18th and has Portugal as a guest to present “its vibrant literary tradition and contemporary voices to the heart of Europe”.




“This special recognition highlights the rich narrative history of Portugal, from iconic writers such as Luís de Camões, Fernando Pessoa and José Saramago to contemporary authors who shape the global literary scene”, can read in the statement of the fair, when the announcement, in October last year.




According to the organization of the fair, the program “will have a wide variety of events, including readings, debates and cultural presentations that will show the literary diversity of Portugal, from poetry to prose and literature for children.”




“Portugal will emphasize the role of literature as a bridge between cultures, enriching the festival with its dynamic literary presence,” the organization added.





Earlier this month, the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, visited the Czech Republic and said he was tempted to return to that country when the capital book fair.




“But I don't know if I resist, in particular, of course, paying the ticket and coming, so that there is no public scrutiny the slightest doubt about what can be weird to like books and want to see the Portuguese presence at the Fair of Prague. I will see if it is possible, “he added.
