O American Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, starred in an unusual moment on Wednesday, when, in an interview with Fox News, he appeared with a cross in ashes on his forehead.
But the explanation for the situation was given even during the interview, when the ruler was asked about the situation, referring: “Today is Ash Wednesday, a day of reflection and humility.”
Rubio was giving an interview in which conflict -related issues were addressed, namely the war in Ukraine and also in the Gaza Strip.
“For millions of Catholics in the United States and around the world, this is a day of faith that recalls us our fragility and the need to do good”he added as he justified the cross.
Devout Christian Marco Rubio prayed on Ash Wednesday and, with a cross on his forehead, declared:
“The U.S. is waging a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine. This must end!”
In other words, he blatantly echoed Russian propaganda. pic.twitter.com/P35oC9tqrb

The gesture generated both compliments and criticism, as some users pointed out that this was a situation of political use attracting the Catholic electorate. “Marco Rubio carries Ash Wednesday's cross while discussing the massacre of humans in Gaza. Grotesque,” wrote one user.
