It is not yet the last step for the legislation to come into force. The publication remains in the Diário da República and the government guidelines, which will regulate how the measure will be instituted in practice.
The main change will be the opening of the CPLP channel, the community of Portuguese -speaking countries, in which Brazil is inserted.
Thousands of Brazilians will benefit when the CPLP channel is available. The tool already exists on this site, but has the regularization function without blocked visa.
Once in Portuguese territory, the Brazilian may request the CPLP residence authorization. But the date for the possibility to come true is uncertain and the government is in no hurry.
Pending priority
The executive still has to zero the line of the 400,000 residence permits pending at the agency for Migration and Asylum Integration (AIMA) before starting the new process.
The opening of the CPLP channel was announced in June to Portugal Giro, shortly after the government ended the manifestation of interest, a measure of regularization that was the most popular among Brazilians.
