[Trending News] January 2025 Ratings: Gutfeld, Kimmel See Big Gains – LateNighter

Donald Trump‘s return to office and the NFL handed Greg Gutfeld and Jimmy Kimmel January’s biggest gains, with both shows logging double digit increases while several others saw their ratings drop.

Fueled by record-breaking viewership during inauguration week, Gutfeld! was the month’s biggest winner, with the Fox News late-night styled show growing its monthly viewing audience by +27% among total viewers and a whopping +40% among viewers in the advertiser-coveted 18-40 demo.

On the opposite side of the political spectrum, January was also an up month for Jimmy Kimmel, whose ABC late-night show benefitted from two late season Monday Night Football games. All told, Jimmy Kimmel Live! grew its average nightly audience by +16% across both ratings measures.

Despite those gains, Kimmel still took second place to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert at 11:35pm. Though Colbert saw month-to-month declines of -2% among total viewers, and -7% among younger viewers, the CBS late-night show continues to draw the largest audience share among all off the late-night shows across all timeslots.

January was a mixed bag for third-place 11:35pm finisher The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, with Fallon’s total viewership decreasing -2% for the month, but increasing 11% among viewers in the demo.

In the late-late slot at 12:37am, Late Night with Seth Meyers took the top spot across both ratings measurements, logging a -2% decrease among total viewers but a +15% increase among younger viewers for the month. Nightline and After Midnight with Taylor Tomlinson split second place, with the ABC News program besting CBS among total viewers, and Tomlinson coming in second in the demo. (Production was suspended on After Midnight for nearly two weeks in January due to the L.A. Wildfires.)

Both Watch What Happens Live and The Daily Show began the new year on a positive note, with both basic cable shows posting gains across both ratings measurements.
