SARASOTA, Fla. — The Detroit Tigers lost 8-7 against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday at Ed Smith Stadium.
Detroit is 2-1 in Grapefruit League play.
What happened
Jackson Jobe allowed two runs in two innings.
Riley Greene hit a two-run home run.
Keider Montero and Brant Hurter pitched.
Starting off
Jobe struck out Adley Rutschman in the first inning.
But he walked Tyler O’Neill and gave up a home run to Heston Kjerstand in the second inning.
He threw 20 of 31 pitches for strikes.
At the plate
Greene had a single in the first inning, a walk in the third inning and a home run in the fourth inning.
Ben Malgeri, a minor leaguer who started in center field, hit a two-run home run in the second inning. He is 5-for-6 with seven RBIs in two games.
On the mound
Montero threw a scoreless third inning despite two hits. Hurter allowed one run on three hits and one walk with three strikeouts in the fourth and fifth innings.
