We’re just over two weeks away from the first Daylight Saving Time of 2025. This year’s spring DST will take place at 2 a.m. EST on Sunday, March 9.
Before going to bed that night, you’ll want to remember to move clocks forward by an hour on your stove, microwave, car radio, in-home radio and of course, clocks that hang on a wall. Most electronics like cell phones, gaming systems, computers and digital watches will automatically adjust the time for you.
Daylight Saving Time (DST) takes place each year on the second Sunday of March until the first Sunday in November. While we “spring forward” in March, in November, the clocks “fall back” and we gain an extra hour of sleep overnight.
The tradition of Daylight Saving began in 1966 when the Uniform Time Act of 1966 was passed. However, the bi-annual event may not be in practice throughout the U.S. for much longer as several states have bills in place to end the practice, but are awaiting Congressional action to allow them to become law.
