Honorary President Contests Forensic Audit Conclusions
Pinto da Costa had harsh criticism of the FC Porto SAD administration, led by André Villas-Boas, questioning the forensic audit that evaluated the last ten times, defending himself from what he considers to be 'the obvious objective of denigrating character, the work and the legacy of those who dedicated long years at the service of the club.
“Over the past few months I have kept the silence in the face of the attacks that have been directed to me seeking to contribute to the preservation of the good name of FC Porto and not to raise instability. I watched at the stadium at the first games, having received numerous demonstrations of affection, but not well understood by some. Silence thus fails to be an option, at a time when it becomes too evident the purpose of denigrating the character, work and legacy of those who dedicated long years to the club's service », can be read in a statement sent sent to the newspapers the game and newspaper of news.
“I find sadly that through a forensic audit where the conclusions went to meet what the commissioned they intended, a series of decontextualized information,” he says, also speaking of football transfer committees.
The former president accuses Angelino Ferreira, current president of the Fiscal and Disciplinary Council, of continuing to present invoices even after leaving, in 2014, the position of administrator of SAD. «It is omitted that the accounts have always been audited by the largest international companies, including by the now author of Forensic audit, without ever something to have been irregular. It was ignored that the use of representation expenses approved by the salary committee is not now. The current president of the Fiscal Council [Angelino Ferreira]being the financial administrator of the SAD in the period immediately preceding the audit, also proceeded. Even after he had abandoned office, he continued to have invoices to exhaust the balance he left at SAD, ”he says.
Pinto da Costa denied any illegality when talking about the controversies with the tickets given to Super Dragons. «Any administration can not be directly imputed to the previous administration on the sidelines of the law. Driving a club with the size of FC Porto is not easy. It implies making complex decisions, risking, failing a few times, dealing with the consequences of what does not go well, ”argues the now several president.
Here's the statement:
1. Over the past few months I have kept silence in the face of the attacks that have been directed to me, thus contributing to the preservation of the good name of FC Porto and not to raise any focus of instability that can be seen as a cause of sports failure . I watched at the stadium at the first games, having received numerous demonstrations of affection, but not well understood by some. Silence thus fails to be an option, at a time when it becomes too evident the goal of denigrating the character, work and legacy of those who have dedicated long years at the service of the club.
2. One of the most insistently passing messages is that the administration I presided over has only left 8,000 euros to its successors, getting the club strangled and without solutions to the future. Nothing more false, as has now become evident. We invested and valued a squad that allowed the current administration, in the first half of the season alone, a fit of 167 million euros. We realize new partnerships, namely with Ithaka, involving the assignment of a funds of 65 million euros. It was also the future revenues of this new company created by the partnership with Ithaka who served as a guarantee for the funding of 115 million euros in the long run and was recently hired.
From the Otavio pass to Al Nassr, the current administration will now receive another 20 million euros. Legacy is also part of FC Porto's qualification for the new Club World Cup, as a result of the international competitiveness of previous years and interesting sports and financial opportunity. And we also left a fully paid stadium and pavilion, as well as a training and training center and a state -of -the -art museum.
3. I sadly find that through a forensic audit where the conclusions were to meet what the commissioned they intended for, a series of decontextualized information launched. It is omitted that the accounts have always been audited by the largest international companies in the sector, including by the now author of Forensic Audit, without ever something to be irregular. It was ignored that the use of representation expenses approved by the salary committee is not now. They have always existed in the SAD being an accepted practice in the business universe and without ever being put into question by the auditors which, if it happened, would be reason to immediately correct procedures. The proof that this has always happened is that the current president of the Fiscal Council, being the financial administrator of the SAD in the period immediately prior to the audit, also proceeded. Even after he had abandoned office, he continued to present invoices to exhaust the balance he left in SAD, as he had this right.
4. Audit, even in which it was also sought to qualify as absurd the payment in transfers of soccer players, not having identified, however, any illegality or relevant discrepancy in relation to the practice of competing clubs. The importance of commissions on business success that have sports impact does not change through cosmetic operations, such as changing the name of the commissions or business inflation so that apparently do not include them. What I hope and desire is for the investigation to proceed so that it can be determined if the so relevant value referred to by the audit as improper is verified, then assuming the consequences that come from it.
5. Also in the field of billion, it was preferred the bet on media episodes, in view of the finding that it cannot be directly imputed to the previous administration any action on the margin of the law. Driving a club with the size and ambition of FC Porto is not easy. It often makes complex decisions, risking, failing sometimes, dealing with the consequences of what doesn't go well. But it cannot be forgotten that it was the management model I led that allowed FC Porto the numerous sports hits that are recognized nationally and internationally.
I wish FC Porto winning, in football and in all modalities, in Portugal and in international competitions, in the present and future, who is driving it.
