A Depression will hit Portugal this Friday. All continental Portugal districts will be under yellow warning due to rain, wind, sea agitation and snowfall. In an interview with SIC Notícias, climatologist Mário Marques outlines a little encouraging scenario for the whole week, until the weekend of March 15 and 16.
“On the 11th it will be a transition day, with good open and a more Soalheiro day, but from the 12th it is still undefined, it depends on the dynamics of the atmosphere, we have a new associated depression.
I think it will go to the south slightly and therefore may further enhance precipitation intensity for the southern regions. At least until next weekend, 15, we will have this standard, because in the absence of the Azores anticyclone, we have the entire line of storms and therefore depressions of free cyclogenesis to travel to Europe, “explains Mário Marques.
For this Friday and next day, a Civil Protection Alert For the possibility of flooding, for the occurrence of floods with the formation of water sheets on the roads.
The climatologist predicts that this Friday, The depression Janana begins by affecting the early afternoon “the center and southern region, and then the other regions and will be with a rainy period of sometimes strong”.
“Then there may be a pause significantly in the late afternoon, but then will return the new line of instability with the cold front to affect mainly at the end of the night and dawn tomorrow, especially on the west and southern coast of the Tagus,” he adds.
According to Mário Marques, “The districts of Lisbon, Leiria, Setúbal, and even the Alentejo coast, therefore the Beja district and also the Algarve, since this depression could enter south more.”
The climatologist also presents Predictions for Madeira:
“A warning also for Madeira, as it will also rain with some intensity, but especially for the ripple, since the southern ripple, both on the coast of Madeira and the South Coast, will be between five, six meters, will float slightly on Saturday, but will return later on Sunday and Monday with this intensity.”
