[Trending News] 'Boy Meets World''s Maitland Ward Speaks Out About 'Hurtful and Shocking' Podcast Argument with Costar Danielle Fishel

One day after her tense podcast conversation made headlines, Boy Meets World star Maitland Ward is speaking up about the difficult moment.

Ward, 48, appeared on the Monday, Feb. 24, episode of the rewatch podcast Pod Meets World, hosted by Will Friedle, Danielle Fishel and Rider Strong. There, Fishel asked her, “Do you hate us?” which led Maitland to open up about thinking Fishel actually hated her. The conversation touched on past interactions, and Ward’s belief that the podcast hosts “hate” series creator Michael Jacobs and estranged former costar Ben Savage, which they all denied.

Ward accused them of “grilling” her in a quest for ratings, but Fishel said Ward was the one who wouldn’t talk to her privately about their relationship. “This is what you asked for,” Fishel, 43, said.

Talking with TMZ on Tuesday, Feb. 25, Ward said that she and her former costars “don’t stand anywhere” at the moment.

“I haven’t heard from anyone after the show,” she shared. “I really wasn’t expecting to hear from her after such a contentious show … I really was expecting to hear from Will since I have been friends with him over the years, so I think it’s most disappointing with him because I feel like he led me toward the slaughter, so to speak, ’cause he was my friend.”

That said, she added, “I don’t have any ill will toward her. I never did. I actually wish her the best, I send her always nothing but love and I always have. I feel like a lot of times she’s just sent me back toxicity in return.”

Ward told TMZ that prior to her podcast interview, she had some casual, “professional” conversations with Friedle, Fishel and Strong about what to expect. But once she started taping, “I really feel like Danielle wanted this moment for me to trap me and make me listen and make the fans listen,” she explained. “It wasn’t coming from a place of, ‘Let’s talk and let’s hash it out and forgive each other on both sides.’ It was more about, ‘I finally got this bitch right here and I’m going to give it to her.’ ”

She called the experience “so hurtful and shocking,” though added she doesn’t regret it, because it meant once again connecting with her fans.

“The fans mean everything to me. And I was looking forward to catching up with old friends,” she shared.

Despite the tension, Ward said she’s “sure” she’ll speak to Friedle, Fishel and Strong again.

Boy Meets World was such a special time,” she said. “We’re always going to be connected.”

Representative for Fishel and Friedle did not yet reply to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
