Ahead of spring ball later this week, the Wisconsin Badgers revealed their 2025 roster, highlighting their large class of incoming freshmen and transfers.
However, there was a notable omission from the roster: 2024 three-star tight end Rob Booker.
According to 247Sports’s Evan Flood, Booker has chosen to medically retire from football, but will remain connected to the team in some capacity.
Booker did not appear in a single game as a freshman last year, instead being listed as out on Wisconsin’s injury report every week.
A native of Waunakee, Booker’s recruitment took a few turns, as the tight end had committed to Wisconsin before quickly flipping to UCLA. Then, he ultimately flipped back to the Badgers on National Signing Day, forming a two-tight end class with four-star Grant Stec.
Booker’s omission was notable, as the Badgers added to their tight end numbers by listing Jackson Acker at the position. There are seven scholarship tight ends on the 2025 spring roster: Ball State transfer Tanner Koziol, Tucker Ashcraft, Jackson McGohan, JT Seagraves, Acker, Stec, and 2025 three-star Emmett Bork.
2025 three-star Nizyi Davis will be joining the group as a summer arrival.
With Acker moving from running back to tight end, the Badgers currently have only four scholarship running backs: Cade Yacamelli, Darrion Dupree, Dilin Jones, and Gideon Ituka. Walk-on Grover Bortolotti rounds out the group.
