Mobile, AL – The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Warning and Rip Current Risk for coastal areas of Alabama and Florida, with hazardous conditions expected from Tuesday through late Wednesday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Mobile, the High Surf Warning is in effect from 3 p.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday. Dangerous breaking waves between 6 and 10 feet are anticipated along the shores of Mobile and Baldwin Counties in Alabama, as well as Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa Counties in Florida. Additionally, the High Rip Current Risk remains active from Tuesday morning through late Wednesday night, posing significant dangers to swimmers and beachgoers.

Authorities warn that these conditions could result in life-threatening situations. Large waves can sweep individuals off jetties, docks, and piers, while powerful rip currents could pull even strong swimmers away from shore. Beach erosion is also expected.

Officials advise everyone to stay out of the water and away from piers and jetties. If caught in a rip current, swimmers should float and avoid fighting the current. Instead, they should attempt to swim parallel to the shoreline or signal for help.

The public is urged to follow local advisories and monitor updates from the National Weather Service as conditions evolve.
