“Run with a purpose, run for a cause.” With this commitment, Hospital da Luz is present in the largest race in the country, EDP Half Marathon of Lisbon 2025, which takes place on 9 March.

In partnership with Marathon Clube de Portugal and Semear, BIPP Association Program – Inclusion for Disability, Hospital da Luz challenges athletes and visitors to contribute to this cause – just run!

In the three days before the race (March 6, 7 and 8), at Sportexpo (which will take place in the MEO Arena Tags Room), at Espaço da Luz Hospital there will be a treadmill where each kilometer made (whether running or walking) will be converted to 5 € of donation from the Hospital da Luz to sow it.

On the day of the race, a team of 50 hospital employees will participate in the event with Hospital da Luz jerseys, generating a donation of 5 € per kilometer run. The values will be determined at the end, at the Guest Lounge of EDP Half Marathon of Lisbon, and donated to that institution by a representative of the Hospital da Luz, shortly after the delivery of the race awards.

“We continue to make a strong bet on sports medicine – through the Sports Medicine Center of Hospital da Luz Lisboa -, promoting exercise and healthy lifestyles. And we always want to be with the best. That's why we keep partners with this race,” says the administrator of the Lisboa Luz Hospital, Pedro Patrício, adding: ” Sport can and should be an opportunity for inclusion.

Joana Santiago, president of Semear, for her part, states: “Semear works for the socio -professional inclusion of people with intellectual difficulties. This partnership with the Hospital da Luz represents more than a simple race: every kilometer traveled reinforces our commitment to build a more inclusive future for all,” he concludes.

Carlos Moia, president of the Clube de Portugal Marathon, stresses that “the commitment of Hospital da Luz with this initiative demonstrates how sport can and should be a powerful tool for inclusion and solidarity. His dedication to turning kilometers into real impact is an inspiring example of how companies can actively contribute to society. We are proud of this partnership, which combines the passion for such a noble cause.”

Sport as an inclusion tool is one of the pillars of Luz Saúde's social responsibility strategy, which has been the official medical service for four years. As always, a team of Light Hospital of almost 200 health professionals – among doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and emergency technicians – will ensure clinical support, with medical posts along the way, ambulances, motorcycles and emergency bicycles.
