Brenda Song is hyping up her costar’s celebrity parents!

The Running Point actress, 36, exclusively told PEOPLE — during a red carpet event for the new Netflix series at The Paley Museum in New York City on Feb. 25 — that costar Kate Hudson’s mom and stepdad, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, continue to leave her slightly starstruck.

“To this day, I still get so nervous every time I’m around them because they’re such wonderful parents,” Song admitted. “They’re at Kate’s shows, and every time I’m around them I like clam up and I’m so scared. Every time.”

“Oh my God, [I’ve met them] a few times and every single time I still like clam up,” she added. “They’re so iconic — literal legends.”

Hawn, 79, welcomed Hudson, 45, into the world in 1979 with then-husband Bill Hudson. After they finalized their divorce in 1982, Hawn started dating Russell, 73, in 1983 — with Kate considering him to be her stepdad for more than four decades now.

Song, a mother of two kids with 44-year-old fiancé Macaulay Culkin, told PEOPLE “it’s insane” that Hawn birthed a future celebrity.

In their Netflix sports comedy series Running PointSong plays Ali Lee, the chief of staff of the Los Angeles Waves pro basketball franchise.

Lee is best friends with Kate’s character, Isla Gordon, the team’s president who was appointed to the job after a scandal forced her brother to resign.

“She’s the best,” Song said of working together. “She was everything I could ever hope for and more. Like I was so nervous to meet her and you think of Kate Hudson, you’re like, ‘Oh, she’s so cool.’ She’s that and more.

“She has been such a guiding light in my life,” she continued. “I’m so grateful just on-screen and off-camera. She’s just so wonderful.”
