Collision
In the opening promos, Okada walked in on Brody King and Julia Hart. That encounter felt like planting seeds for King to challenge Okada for the AEW Continental Championship.
Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong defeated FTR. Dax Harwood had the win on a pilediver to O’Reilly. The referee counted 3, however, he missed O’Reilly putting his foot on the ropes to break the pin. Harwood noticed afterward. He wasn’t satisfied with winning like that, so he demanded that the match be restarted. The ref obliged. The action continued for about ten more minutes with slick tag team tactics. Strong broke the pin to save O’Reilly on a spike piledriver. O’Reilly kicked out of a Powerplex. FTR set up the Shatter Machine. Strong blindsided Harwood with a jumping knee, and O’Reilly escaped Cash Wheeler’s grip. The Undisputed Kingdom executed the high low combo finisher on Wheeler to win clean. After the match, the Kingdom offered a handshake of respect. FTR turned their backs and walked out.
Willow Nightingale is not afraid to use her power, as she showed on Marina Shafir.
Wheeler Yuta defeated Willie Mack. Chocolate Caliente started slow, then he picked up the groove for a standing moonsault. That wasn’t enough to keep Yuta down. Mack went to finish with a stunner. Yuta shed off the move to run the ropes for a Busaiku knee to win. Jon Moxley came to the ring to teach his protege a lesson about finishing the job. Yuta will wrestle Adam Copeland on Dynamite. Moxley’s orders are to make sure Cope doesn’t leave the ring under his own power. Moxley held up Mack, and Yuta clocked him with the world title briefcase.
Billie Starkz returned the TBS Championship to Mercedes Moné with a message that Momo Watanabe will take the title at Revolution. Billie then threw tea in the CEO’s face.
Toni Storm was bedridden with a neck brace after last week’s attack from Mariah May. Storm’s promo gave the rules for the Hollywood Ending match at Revolution. No disqualifications, no countouts, no rope breaks, no holds barred, falls count anywhere. Storm removed her brace with threats that Mariah will meet God.
Swerve Strickland defeated Clark Connors. Swerve was ruthless attacking the left arm. Prince Nana exclaimed that he most dangerous man was back. Connors is tough, so he put up a fight and speared Swerve. Swerve regrouped to win via House Call kick.
MVP was a man of his word and granted the Outrunners a tag team title shot. It sounds like the match will be at Revolution.
Tony Schiavone helped Harley Cameron name her finisher as, “My finishing move.”
Johnny TV bumped into Big Boom AJ. Johnny told AJ to find two partners for a six-man tag at Revolution. Johnny will be with the MxM Collection.
Lee Moriarty & the Infantry defeated Nick Ruiz, Vinnie Massaro, & Dave Dutra. Squash. Moriarty picked up the pin with the Fang slam.
TNT Championship: Daniel Garcia (c) versus Adam Cole ends in no-contest. The match was getting epic down the stretch, then Shane Taylor Promotions ran in to beat them both down. No winner.
Big Justice found Orange Cassidy and OC found Mark Briscoe to be the partners for Big Boom AJ.
Queen Aminata defeated Julia Hart. Rematch from last week. Serena Deeb claimed to give Aminata the scouting report for victory. On the surface, I can’t tell if the gameplan was utilized. Hart missed on a moonsault and tweaked her knee. Queen blasted a headbutt then knocked Hart silly with a running boot to win. Afterward, Brody King checked on Hart. Okada blindsided King with his title belt.
From his home in Winnipeg, Kenny Omega spoke about the match against Konosuke Takeshita for the AEW International Championship at Revolution. Even though the gloating from Don Callis got on Omega’s nerves, this won’t be revenge. It is about being the best to hold the belt. If Takeshita wins for the third time, then maybe it will be time for Omega to admit that his peak form is gone. In the time away, Omega honed his weaknesses into strengths. No baggage. His focus is on the title.
Powerhouse Will Hobbs & Bandido defeated Big Bill & Bryan Keith. Hot tag to Hobbs running wild. Meat showdown with Bill. Hobbs dodged a big boot, and Bill got stuck over the ropes. A shoulder tackle knocked the giant down to the floor. Bandido stood on Hobbs’ shoulders for a moonsault onto Bill. Hobbs handled business on Keith for a spinebuster to win in his home turf.
