[Trending News] Talavera will host the Bádminton National

Talavera will host from May 9 to 11 the Absolute Championship of Bádminton and Parabádminton, which the Councilor for Sports, Antonio Núñez, presented this Tuesday at the City Council.

In the mayor, it is one of the “most important events that Talavera has stepped on in terms of sport.” He recalled that the Badminton is Olympic and, in this case, “will bring the best players in Spain to our city.” Therefore, “once again he will put Talavera in the epicenter of national sport.”

He will gather at the First of May Sports Center for about 150 players. Núñez wanted to influence that “it is the first time this championship is held in Talavera.” And he stressed, therefore, that a national of the absolute category “from an Olympic sport comes to Talavera, when there were other cities that sought this championship.”

He highlighted the Talaverana experience in the organization of national appointments, “above all, in motor sports, but it is a test within seven or eight that are held in the Spanish geography.” But in the case of this Bádminton national “it is done in a single weekend because it is annual, which has even more relevance than it does in Talavera.”

Along with this, Antonio Núñez referred to another of the aspects that implies the arrival of this Spanish Championship; And it is that “it is a great economic impact for our city during the weekend from May 9 to 11.” And he added that “there are many hoteliers reserved by the federation and players.”

On the other hand, players who have been at the Paris Olympic Games as is the case of Pablo Abián will compete in this National. Carolina Marín, on the other hand, is recovering from the serious injury suffered, precisely in Paris, as well as the subsequent surgical intervention. On the Huelva champion, the councilor highlighted that “it is in conversations with her so that the week before in the presentation of the Spanish Championship can be.” Therefore, “there are possibilities that one of the best Spanish athletes in history is in Talavera.” Who will travel to the city is the president of the Spanish Federation of Bádminton, Andoni Azurmendi.

As for the enclosure, the first of May, “will be completely transformed.” He informed that four Bádminton tracks will be installed to which another destined for the Parabádminton National will be added.

In this way, “our sports facilities will be given value.” At this point, he explained that the staff of the Spanish Badminton Federation who has previously visited Talavera “has also valued the enclosures we have.”

During the weekend the five classic tests of the absolute championship will be held: Male Individual, Female Individual, Male Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles. In addition, in parallel the same chair modalities will be played in Wh1 and Wh2 and also in modalities of standing standing SL3, SL4, SU5 and SH6, as indicated by the Federation.
