British police have arrested a 23 -year -old girl who claims to be Madeleine McCannthe missing girl in southern Portugal on May 3, 2007.

This is Julia Wandelt, a young Polish woman who has achieved notoriety on the Internet claiming to be the then missing girl in the Algarve.

Wandelt created an Instagram account under the name @iammadeleinemcCann, where she shared photos and details that, according to her, support her statement to be Madeleine. Among the alleged tests would be a DNA analysis that, according to Wandelt, would confirm a family connection with Gerry McCann, Maddie's father.

The young woman says she is convinced of being Maddie and is also based on her physical resemblance and on the presence of exceptional features, such as a small mole under the left eye, a series of freckles on the legs and even a rare condition in the eye, known Like Coloboma, a kind of slot in the central part of the pupil.

The police and forensic experts who have studied the alleged tests have confirmed however that Madeleine and Julia are not the same person.

Wandelt has now been arrested along with a 60 -year -old woman when, according to her version, they were traveling to Cardiff to visit a friend. This same week, Wandelt shared an audio clip on his Instagram account in which he claims to have tried to talk to Gerry McCann by phone.

The police accuse the young woman to stalk and harass Madeleine's parents, according to British newspapers such as 'The Sun' or 'Daily Mail'.

The real Madeleine McCann was three years old when she disappeared without a trace in 2007 while she was on vacation with her parents Gerry and Kate, who became the main suspects of the Portuguese police. Nothing is known about her since then. The McCann family, which has always defended that its daughter is alive, is still looking.

In April 2022, Christian Brueckner, a German who was in prison, was officially charged with the disappearance of little Madeleine. The accusation was made at the request of the Portuguese Prosecutor's Office. The authorities confirmed that, since 2020, they have evidence of the girl's murder in the Algarve when she was only three years old.

Last October, Christian Brueckner was acquitted of two other cases of kidnapping and violation committed between 2000 and 2017.
