[Trending News] Bol Bol gets the start at PF for Suns vs. Grizzlies

The Phoenix Suns gave Bol Bol the start at power forward against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday for his first start in his 60th game as a Sun. He hadn’t started since April 6, 2023 while with the Orlando Magic.

He quickly made his impact felt with a block, assist and made 3 all within the game’s first 70 seconds. He tallied seven points and six minutes in his opening nine-minute stint. He finished with 18 points, four blocks and a game-high 14 rebounds in the 119-112 loss.

Bol scored 19 and 12 points in the prior two games for his first double-digit performances of the season, playing more than 55 minutes in two games when he had just 85 over the previous 14. He also had 10 rebounds and seven blocks in the pair.

The recent strong play has included highlights such as a behind-the-back dish to a 3 from Damion Lee.

Listed at 7-foot-2, Bol was listed alongside center Nick Richards and Kevin Durant, giving Phoenix a very long frontcourt against a Grizzlies roster that includes Jaren Jackson Jr. and Zach Edey.

“He’s really kind of grown or developed into a really tough cover,” coach Mike Budenholzer said pregame of the threat Jackson presents. “His ball handling at his size, his shot making at his size. He’s got kind of a strength and a physicality that he can take to the post or he can hit people on his drives. Impressed with how he’s grown on the offensive end of the court and big challenge for us tonight.”

Bradley Beal is out for the game along with recent trade acquisitions Cody Martin and Vasa Micic while Grayson Allen is available.
