[Trending News] Will There Be A ‘High Potential’ Season 2? Here’s The Really Good News

Kaitlin Olson’s crime drama, High Potential, will wrap up its action-packed first season on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC. Will the freshman series return for a second season? Here’s everything we know about its future on ABC and Hulu.

Based on the French series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI), High Potential stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, a single mom with a genius-level IQ of 160. She works as a cleaner for the LAPD until her brilliant mind proves invaluable in solving crimes. In return for her help, Major Crimes Lieutenant Selena Soto (played by Rudy Reyes) promises to investigate the disappearance of Morgan’s boyfriend, Roman, from 15 years ago.

In addition to Olson and Reyes, the series also stars Daniel Sunjata as Karadec, Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdil, Amirah J as Ava, and Matthew Lamb as Elliot.

The upcoming Season 1 finale will see Morgan assisting the LAPD in the hunt for a dangerous individual who has created a series of board games and puzzles containing clues to the location of a captive victim. “An anonymous tip to the LAPD sparks an unusual multiple-victim kidnapping investigation, forcing the team to rely on board games and puzzles to track down their suspect,” the logline reads.

Will There Be A High Potential Season 2?

Yes, ABC renewed High Potential for a second season in January 2025. This early renewal is only the second ABC has granted in 2025, the other being Abbott Elementary.

Season 2 of High Potential is likely to be even bigger, with more episodes than the first. While the exact number is still under wraps, Deadline reports it’s expected to surpass season one’s 13 episodes. The first season’s shorter run was due to the show’s unusual production schedule and star Kaitlin Olson’s commitment to FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The inaugural season of High Potential has been popular with audiences, earning a 96% critics score and an 81% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The pilot episode alone has attracted nearly 30 million viewers across all platforms, making it one of the top-performing freshman series of the 2024-25 season and delivering strong streaming numbers alongside its on-air ratings, according to ABC.

When Is High Potential Season 2 Coming Out?

ABC hasn’t announced a release date for High Potential Season 2 yet, but it’s expected to return sometime in Fall 2025. Stay tuned for updates.
